About This Station
The station is powered by a Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station. The data is collected every 2 seconds and the site is updated every 5 minutes. This site displays the data collected using Weather Display Software. The station comprises of an anemometer, rain gauge and a thermo-hydro sensor situated in optimal positions for highest accuracy possible.
Updates to this page will be made every 5 minutes to the Home page and Data Pages. The Stats, Graphs, and Astronomy pages are updated in 15 minute intervals. In the event of a power failure or computer melt down, Data will still be logged and then uploaded when it becomes possible.
Weather Station Corrections
At times, this weather station will give some false reports. A common error is the report of Rain on a sunny day in the Winter Time. This happens when Snow that has collected on the Automatic Rain Gauge begins to Thaw. The Snow melts and then goes through the Rain gauge and is counted as rain.
Other problems that may occur are software errors. Hopefully some of these errors will be avoided in future upgrades in the software. Weather Station and Software Problems will be corrected as soon as possible, providing a solution is found.
The Biggest software Problem that occurs now is the Warning System. Please, if you see a Warning or Alert Posted - CHECK THE DATE!!!. Past Alerts and Warnings are showing up instead of what really should be posted.

Special Thanks
The following totals for the 2011 year have been provided by Tom Clark of Mountain Top. As you know, on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis, this weather station has it's ups and downs. While weather conditions can vary greatly in a short distance, I believe the Mountain Top data would provide a closer representation of the weather at Penn Lake, rather than totals from the airport at Avoca. Again, I thank Tom Clark for taking the time and interest to provide us with the following data.
Mountain Top,
